Ken Hawkinson

Changes in the College office! Ken Hawkinson moves out, and Sharon Evans moves in.

Hawkinson, who has been the associate dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication since July 2005, has been named Western's associate provost for budget, planning and personnel, effective June 1, according to WIU Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Jack Thomas.

Ken will be missed in the Dean's office, but he will always be part of COFAC as a tenured professor in Communication. Read more.

Sharon Evans

Sharon Evans, chair of broadcasting, will serve as the interim associate dean of the college. She will be in the dean's office during the afternoons, and if you look for her, don't be surprised if she's sitting in her office with the lights off. Having "lived" in Sallee Hall for 20 years, she's not used to having windows in her office. She says she's enjoying the natural light, but not spending too much time staring out the window.

"Broadcasting moved to Sallee in August of 1988, so we will be celebrating our 20th birthday this Homecoming. Everyone is invited to the party—you'll find us in the broadcasting "truck" at the Homecoming game," said Evans. Read more about Evans.
