Longtime Western Illinois University Theatre Professor David Patrick was appointed chair of the University’s theatre and dance department, effective Aug. 1, according to College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Dean Paul Kreider.

Dr. Jeannie Woods, Professor of Theatre, played the Duchess in ME AND MY GIRL for WIU Summer Music Theatre 2008, appearing under her stage name, Jeannie Marlin. Dr. Woods was also artistic director for the 2008 season.

- In August, Dr. Jeannie Woods, Professor of Theatre, attended the 2008 conference of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Woods appeared on the panel "Promotion and Tenure: Seeking a Unified Voice" and will serve on a special ATHE task force that will, over the next three years, draft a comprehensive set of guidelines for assessing creative/scholarly work in theatre for tenure and promotion. These guidelines will be developed in concert with ATHE and other primary organizations such as USITT (United States Insitite of Theatre Technology), NAST (National Association of Schools of Theatre), AATE (American Alliance of Theatre Educators), and others.
- Dr. Woods has also been named to a committee to plan a mid-year seminar for the Stage Directing Focus Group of the Association of Theatre in Higher Education.
