TRI STATES PUBLIC RADIO - August 2008

Tri Radio

The Tri States Public Radio news team picked up two awards in the national contest sponsored by the Public Radio News Directors, Inc. (PRNDI). The contest is the only one devoted exclusively to recognizing excellence in public radio journalism.

In Division B, for stations with 3 or 4 full time reporters, Rich Egger earned First Place in the Use of Sound category for "An Uphill Challenge." The story was about the 25th Annual Snake Alley Criterium in Burlington, IA.

In Division D for students, Alex Heuer earned Second Place in the News Feature category for "Comprehensive Tension." The story was about the tensions between WIU students and full-time Macomb residents in neighborhoods around campus. Alex also won a $500 scholarship and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC to attend the PRNDI conference in July. He is pictured above at NPR Headquarters with Weekend Edition host Scott Simon.
