Internship Experiences of Broadcasting Students
Many broadcasting students use the summer months to experience the real world of media. Three students are interning with NBC and participating in the network’s coverage of the Summer Olympic games. Two of these students will be based in Beijing, China and one will be with the At Home Program in New York City. Other students are stateside working in local television newsrooms in Omaha, Springfield, Peoria, Quincy, the Quad Cities, and Tampa, Florida. Two students are with ESPN Radio in Chicago. One student is interning with the Joliet Jackhammers Baseball team working in their front office. Other students are working in small market radio in Galesburg, Quincy, and Macomb. Previous internship sites have included the Disney Channel, Oprah, Jerry Springer, Discovery Channel, NASCAR Images, and Comcast Sports—Chicago and Comcast Sports--Midwest, along with television and radio stations in St. Louis, Chicago, Kansas City, and Atlanta.
