PAS Banquet 2009
The Performing Arts Society celebrated another terrific year at the PAS Banquet 2009. The banquet is a time to recognize the many people who contribute to the success of the PAS. It is also a time to say farewell to retiring board members and welcome new board members.
This year the PAS recognized the following for Distinguished Service Awards for 2008 presented by upcoming PAS President Barb Baily.
Laura Swanson Leezer was recognized as this year's recipient of the William Brattain Award in recognition of all her work to promote and support arts in the region. Laura has truly helped in sustaining an arts partnership between WIU and the city of Macomb.
Erin and James Stegall were this year's recipients of the Community Service Award. The Community Service Award recognizes individuals for their unwavering support of the arts over many years. The Stegall's musical gifts to the community have been appreciated over many years.
Rebecca A. Kreider received the Ruth Watts Award to recognize her special service to the Performing Arts Society. Ruth Watts felt it was apart of responsibility to serve her community and she did so with grace and dignity. Becky Kreider continues this tradition by bringing the WIU opera programs to Macomb and surrounding communities.
The Performing Arts Society Corporate Salute recognizes a local business or international corporation for outstanding corporate support. It is through this support that the PAS finds it possible to underwrite the expenses for performances brought to our community through the Bureau of Cultural Affairs and the Youth Performing Arts Series. There were two recipients of the Corporate Salute award this year.
WGEM-TV was one of the recipients of the Corporate Salute for 2009. Carlos Fernandez, General Manager WGEM-TV, accepted the award.
Sodexo
was also a recipient of the Corporate Salute award this year. Receiving the award are Allen Nemec, Tim Keller, Evan Olson, and Ada Neighbors.
The PAS said goodbye to several Board members and will miss their tireless efforts on behalf of the PAS. Gil Belles, Garnetteand John Hallwas, Laura Swanson Leezer and Dan Leezer, and Mary Virginia and Wayne Woodrum have retired from the PAS Board. Pictured are Gil Belles, Laura Swanson Leezer, and Mary Virginia Woodrum.
The PAS is looking forward to working with new board members Tim Keller, Wanda and Cliff Foster, Beth and Fred Seaton, and Julie Murphy.
