Jeannie

 

Jeannie Woods directed the Moliere comedy, The Miser, for WIU University Theatre in October. The production, inspired by the commedia dell'arte, featured designs by MFA in Theatre candidates Jessica Snyder (costume and make-up), Ali Shubert (set and props), and Stan Morris (lighting).

 

 

Jeannie Woods and Candace Winters-March have been inducted in the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society. This is a new honor society for people involved with international study and teaching abroad. Candace Winters-March was installed as Vice President.

PLAYING IN PEORIA

Rocco
NEA chief finds art in a midsize Midwest town anything but middling

Rocco Landesman, National Endowment for the Arts Chair, is hitting the art scene hard in this modest city on the Illinois River, and he's liking it. Well, no, that's not quite correct:

He's loving it! The new waterfront cultural area? "Beautiful!" Peoria artist Lonnie Stewart's model of a sculptural slave memorial? "Powerful!" And how about those plucky kids in the production of "Rent" over at Eastlight Theatre?

 

Marcus Olson and Kitty Karn attended the performance of 'Rent' and met NEA Chair Rocco Landesman at a pre-performance reception. Kathy Chitwood is the producer of Eastlight Theatre in Peoria, plus she's the mom of former WIU Theatre student Wes Urish.
