Kris has parlayed a decade of successful cross country and trans-Atlantic touring into one of the most distinct voices in American music. With her latest recording, Shotgun Singer, she has trained that voice on a series of gracefully open lyrics and figures that transcend genre, ranging into the borderlands between indie-rock and folk. Adventurous, elegant, lucid, and haunting, the record is the work of a seasoned musician who has found a musical language, a means of expression, equal to her vision. Hear her live at Tri States Public Radio, 320 W. University Drive, at 7:00 pm, Saturday, December 12th.

WELCOME BACK, ALEX!
Morning Edition listeners will soon wake up to a different voice, but one that isn't entirely new to our long time listeners. Alex Degman, who won a number of Associated Press awards as a student reporter, returns to warm our early morning anchor chair this month.
Alex holds a BA in Broadcasting and Journalism from WIU, as well as an MA from the University of Illinois's highly regarded Public Affairs Reporting program. While completing his internship at WVIK in Rock Island, Alex anchored Morning Edition for a few months, so he knows what he's getting into (the early hours, the demanding audience, the bedroll on the floor for bad weather nights...)! Join us in welcoming him back to the Tri States Public Radio family!
