Kitty Karn

 

Kitty Karn was the soloist with the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra in Muscatine, Iowa under the direction of Brian Dollinger on Saturday, September 27.

The concert was titled "La Scala to Broadway" and she sang selections from Samson and Dalila, Carmen, Cats, Miss Saigon, Evita, West Side Story and many more.

Matt Warnock

Matt Warnock successfully defended his dissertation titled "Johnny Smith: Melodic Interpretation and Improvisational Techniques” at the University of Illinois where he became the first guitarist to graduate with a DMA in jazz performance from UIUC.

Matt taught the week of September 28th at Concordia University in Montreal as an artist in residence. He gave private lessons to undergraduate and graduate-level jazz guitar majors, taught master classes to all of the guitar majors, and gave a lecture titled "The Guitar's Role in Modern Jazz Composition" to a class of composition majors.

Anita Werling


Anita Werling played a recital on the Summer Organ Recital Series at Sinsinawa Mound, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, in August.

Cristina Werling, MM 2007, joined her on two works for horn and organ. Anita Werling also attended the national convention of the Organ Historical Society held in Seattle July 13-19.

Sarah Koehler, MA 1997, was one of six young Twin Cities organists chosen to perform a new work for organ with instrument at the American Guild of Organists National Convention held in the Twin Cities in June. Recordings of these commissioned works are included with the publication by AugsburgFortress.
