Performing Arts Society Gala 2008—
South Pacific . . .Some Enchanted Evening
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 8 and enjoy an enchanted evening at the South Pacific PAS Gala 2008. Your enchanted evening begins at 5:00 in the University Union Prairie Lounge.
The evening includes cocktails, passed hors d'oeuvres and the silent auction. Dinner and entertainment which will include BFA Musical Theatre students, the University Dance Theatre, and a medley sung by Paul Kreider, Dean of COFAC. And the evening ends with dessert and dancing.
The menu will feature your choice of entree: Ahi Tuna steamed in banana leaf with soy sauce, fresh ginger, and scallions served with black rice with crystallized lemon zest or tenderloin of beef medallions topped with sautéed shitake mushrooms and shitake cream sauce with green onions served with a duo of garlic and sweet mashed potatoes. The vegetarian option is grilled rainbow Swiss chard with shitake mushrooms, fava beans and oregano. The entrees will be served with honey glazed rainbow carrots, assorted peppers and asparagus. Dessert includes passion fruit creme brulee with mango coulis, candied pineapple fan, chocolate sea shells on turbinado sugar, and a chocolate covered orchid.
The Silent Auction includes enchanting trips, breathtaking jewels, collectable art, plus much, much more.

The College of Fine Arts and Communication and the Figge
Art Museum Welcome the Master of Arts in Museum Studies Program
On August 21, COFAC and the Figge Art Museum hosted a reception at the Figge Art Museum to welcome Ann Rowson Love, the new director of the program, and the inaugural class of MA students. Faculty from both Western's Art Department and the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration joined faculty from the Figge Art Museum along with administrators from the Figge, the Macomb, and the Quad Cities campuses and community members to celebrate the beginning of a very unique program. Everyone enjoyed a delicious hors d'oeuvres buffet and good conversation. President Al Goldfarb, Figge Executive Director Sean O'Harrow, and COFAC Dean Paul Kreider all welcomed the new students and the guests.
