New Music Festival

Call For Scores

Composers are invited to submit scores for New Music Festival 2019 (March 3–5, 2019) at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. We welcome proposals for the performance of one work for unaccompanied solo instrument: flute, oboe, clarinet, violin, or piano. Selected works will be performed by WIU faculty members on the March 5 evening concert, and selected composers will give presentations on their work earlier that day. Invited composers will be expected to arrive in Macomb in time to attend the March 4 evening concert by featured performer Doug Perkins and stay through the day and evening on March 5. We are unable to provide funding for travel or accommodations, but there is no registration fee, and guest composers will have the option of booking relatively inexpensive rooms at the WIU Union Hotel, conveniently located across the street from the music campus.

Submissions should include: name, contact information, website, title, date, instrumentation, duration, biography (PDF), score (PDF), link to streaming recording(s): SoundCloud, YouTube, etc. NOTE: please do NOT send links that require downloading (DropBox, etc.) Composers may submit a maximum of THREE compositions for consideration.

We prefer submissions via Google Form (link below). If you do not have a Google account, you may submit by emailing submission materials (see above) to

Deadline for submission is October 15, 2018, though review of scores will begin on October 1.
