Call For Participation

New Music Festival 2014 at Western Illinois University The composition faculty at Western Illinois University seeks proposals from composers interested in being featured at New Music Festival 2014 on March 3-4, 2014.

Three midcareer/established composers will be selected for the festival, and each will have one or two works performed, by WIU faculty and guest performers, on festival concerts. Each invited composer will receive a $700 honorarium to help cover the costs of travel, lodging, etc.

Each composer will be expected to participate in all festival events, including attending all concerts, presenting and attending 45-minute presentations given by featured composers, and participating in panel-discussions and masterclasses with WIU student composers.

To apply, send a single e-mail (addressed to: containing a biography and two to five .pdf scores of solos, duos, or trios (for standard orchestral instruments, including piano but not including harp, possibly including stereo electronics) along with internet links (website, Dropbox, SoundCloud,YouTube, etc.) to stream or download recordings of the submitted works. Please do not attach .mp3 or other audio files to the e-mail.

If you have more than five solos, duos, or trios that might be appropriate for the festival, please include a list of these additional works, but do not send scores or audio links at this time. Deadline for submission: November 1, 2013.
