WIU Chamber Orchestra

The Chamber Orchestra at WIU was created in January 2008 through the efforts of Dr. Richard Hughey, director of Orchestras at WIU. This ensemble has developed a repertoire of music from the early 18th through the 21st Centuries. The Chamber Orchestra also provides an opportunity for WIU students to regularly perform concerti with the orchestra. The orchestra also collaborates often with WIU School of Music faculty members and guest artists. With a specialization in music of the Baroque, the Chamber Orchestra has been invited to perform at the Illinois Music Educators All State Conference in 2010 and the National Conference of the American String Teachers Association in Kansas City in 2011. The orchestra presents two concert programs each semester.
