Emily Hart

Emily Hart

A native of Quincy, IL, Emily Hart made her solo orchestral debut at the age of sixteen with the Quincy Symphony Orchestra. From there came a series of competition wins, performance opportunities and musical leadership positions, including winning the 2012 MTNA Illinois State Woodwinds Competition and the Western Illinois University Concerto Competition in both 2010 and 2012. Last May, Emily graduated summa cum laude from Western Illinois University where she studied with Michael Ericson. During her time at WIU,

Emily served as Principal Oboe of the Western Illinois University Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds for all four years of her studies, and of the WIU Symphony Orchestra for three. She also performed regularly with the Quincy Symphony Orchestra. For the past six summers, Emily has been actively involved in the Blue Lake International Exchange Program, and has been a member of the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra.

Emily is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Oboe Performance at the Eastman School of Music, where she studies with Richard Killmer. At Eastman she performs regularly with the Eastman Philharmonia, Eastman Wind Ensemble and Musica Nova. She currently resides in Rochester, NY, where in her free time she enjoys drinking coffee and adventuring outside as much as possible, even in the constant snow of the Rochester winter.
