The primary purpose of the Summer Music Institute at Western Illinois University is to provide the best possible educational opportunity to young people for individual development in the knowledge, practice, and appreciation of the fine art of music in a nurturing musical environment. Any returning camper receives a reduced camp fee!

SENIOR HIGH SPECIALTY CAMPS

Thursday, June 13-Sunday, June 16 • Cost - $320

 

Specialty camps will include master classes, individual lessons, chamber music, solo coaching, reed work for oboe and bassoon, and embouchure development with WIU’s renown faculty. String specialty camps will also include sessions on All-State audition music and bow and left hand technique classes. Choral Conducting Camp will focus on developing leadership skills, refine conducting technique, improve musicianship, and explore choral literature. There will be opportunities for students to perform during the camps.

 

Students should bring at least one prepared piece. The specialty camps are followed immediately by the Senior High Concert Band Camp, Senior High Orchestra Camp, and Senior High Vocal/Choral Camp. There is a special rate reduction of $125 off the cost of these camps for those students electing to remain after Specialty Camp for Senior High Concert Band Camp, Senior High Orchestra Camp, or Senior High Vocal/Choral Camp.
