2019 Camp Director: Dr. Jason Hawkins

 

Choir Camps are designed to challenge, encourage, and inspire students of all proficiency levels by providing a wide range of instructional and performance opportunities. Our master teachers will help students build a foundation of fundamental skills in music reading, vocal production, stage presence, diction, and basic musicianship skills through rehearsals, master classes, special enrichment sessions, and performance.

Dr. Jason Hawkins serves asProfessor of Choral Music Educationat Western Illinois University where heteaches Concert Choir,Vocal JazzEnsemble, andMusic Education courses. He comes to Western after 12 years of successful choral teaching at Plainfield North High School wherehis nationally-recognized program grew grown from 35 to 200 members under his direction. Hiseducation includes a Bachelor's double major in Choral Music Education and Trumpet Performancefrom WIU, a Master's in Education from Governors State University, and a Ph.D. inMusic Education from the University of Illinois. We are very excited to have Dr. Hawkins as the director of the Junior Choir Camp this summer!
