Ms. Brakefield has a Master of Arts from the State University New York at Buffalo. She has studied both Vaganova and Cecchetti methods of ballet and is the faculty advisor of Western’s Dance and Tumbling Studio. Brakefield previously taught ballet at SUNY Buffalo, Western New York Institute for the Arts in Education and at the prestigious Royal Academy of Ballet in Buffalo.

Denise has performed with the Buffalo Regional Ballet, Two Rivers Dance Theatre and the Zodiaque Dance Company. She has also been rehearsal mistress and choreographer for Zodiaque, and has choreographed for Two Rivers Dance Theatre and Western’s University Dance Theatre. She teaches all levels of ballet and tap in the Western Illinois University Dance Program.
