Graduate Students:

Graduate trumpet audition requirements:

1.  Representative literature displaying skills and background in a variety of periods and styles. A possible collection could include a movement of a baroque work on the piccolo trumpet (Torelli, Handel, etc.), a movement of a classical concerto (Haydn, Hummel) and a movement of a 19th or 20th century concerto, sonata or solo work. (Arutunian, Stevens, Enesco, etc.)

2.  Standard orchestral excerpts or jazz improvisation as it aligns with applicant’s strengths. (Moussorgsky – Pictures Promenade, Respighi Pines offstage, etc. Aebersold track or Band in a Box track)

3.  For graduate assistantship – reading with the faculty brass quintet
