Audition Information


Saturday, April 15th 2017 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 16th 2017 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday; please arrive at this time to register and warm up to be ready to dance at 9:00 a.m. Lunch will be on your own, so please bring money (we can help to provide transportation from other veteran members if needed). We also accept video auditions. Please click the video audition information.


Auditions will be held in Horrabin Gym on Western Illinois University's Campus

What to wear:

Fitted black t-shirt or tank, fitted black shorts, jazz shoes (tennis shoes optional), hair pulled back and off the face (Poms will be provided).

What to expect:

Come prepared with a 30 second- 1 minute routine of your strongest style of dance (Hip-Hop, Pom, or Jazz)

Come ready to learn a jazz/hip-hop/pom combination as well as jazz technique, which will include:

Double (required component) & Triple turns

  • Turns in second
  • Leg holds, kicks, fan and tilt kicks
  • Splits
  • Tilt leap
  • Straight leg/grand jete leap
  • Open/center leap
  • Calypso
  • Stag
  • Turning disc
  • Toe-touch
  • C-jump/turning c-jump
  • You may also be asked to perform some of these requirements separately for the judges.

Welcome/optional but not required "tricks" and techniques:

  • Illusions
  • Leg hold turns
  • Panchee/arabesque rolls
  • Headstands/headsprings
  • Stalls/freezes
  • Kip-ups
  • Tumbling - back/front handsprings, aerials, walkovers

Dancers will warm up and review material before individual interviews. Dancers will also learn a sideline to perform with the audition combinations.
