Bombers Humbling First Loss Friday
Macomb Bombers have battled and fought hard for every win they've had this season.
This past week just proved too tough a matchup for the previously undefeated 7-0 Bomber team.
It was Senior Night Friday for the Bombers and they had a hard time taking control of the scoreboard and their untimely mistakes, thus letting Taylor Ridge Rockridge put a 1 in the Bombers loss column.
This unfortunate loss took the Bombers off the unbeaten ranks and in a spot to likely share the league title with Illini West.
The game was brutal from start to finish, Macomb managed seven first downs and 194 yards in offense, 181 of those from their running game.
With Rockridge leading 7-0 into the third quarter when Eli Cousins battled back with a 54 yard rush up the middle for a TD with 3:44 remaining, but the Bombers missed the extra point keeping them a point behind.
Rockridge took a grand lead when McManus caught a 30-yard over-the-shoulder TD pass for a 14-6 lead over the Bombers.
The Bombers led by Head Coach Kelly Sears is looking to comeback from their humbling loss, and fight for a big W against (5-3) Notre Dame this upcoming Friday, October 19th.
