Chicago Bulls Lose in Season Opener to Miami Heat
The Chicago Bulls were defeated Tuesday night 107-95. Miami raised their banner and then played a dominating basketball game. This season the Heat are going for a three peat after winning the championship somewhat easily the past two seasons.
The Bulls played sloppy basketball and were not knocking down their shots. Derrick Rose played 34 minutes and finished with 12 points, four assists, and five turnovers. Carlos Boozer led the bulls with 31 points and seven rebounds. Joakim Noah returned to the court and chipped in 11 rebounds. Jimmy Butler looked good with 20 points and five steals.
The Heat came out of the gate very strong defensively. They had hands and bodies on every Bulls player whenever they touched the ball for the opening quarter. Lebron James had 17 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. Miami spread the ball well and looked comfortable on the court. Miami had seven players with double digit scoring. Dwayne Wade finished with 13 points and Ray Allen with 11. The Heat were 55 percent from beyond the arc.
Chicago had a short-lived comeback in the fourth quarter but the Bulls bench could not compete with anyone. Mike Dunleavy and Kirk Hinrich were irrelevant. The Bulls had a poor field goal percentage of 42.2 percent.
The rivalry between the Heat and Bulls was made apparent after this opening game. Although you could tell both teams were trying to shake off the rust the usually unpacked Heat stadium gave off the appearance of playoff atmosphere basketball.
The Bulls have their first home game tonight and face the New York Knicks at 7pm.
