Ilon Lauer, was a respondent for four papers on the panel, “Feminist Textual Criticism of Political Rhetoric” and presented two papers at Central States Communication Association annual convention April 1-5, 2009: “Orality and debate: Identifying the crucial link between contemporary and ancient argumentation” and “Oswald Spengler’s mystic tone: an investigation of a Faustian trope.”

Roberta A. Davilla was a participant at Central States Communication Association annual convention and was on the panel: “Gender and communication at the heart of it all: Teaching gender/sexuality from multiple perspectives” and was the facilitator and participant on the panel: “Conversations about connections: At the heart of department and programs”

(September 2008). Tips and more: The importance and role of graduate teaching assistants. Spectra, 44 (8), 32-33.

Presenter for the “Building Relationships with Staff and Clients,” a four-hour workshop for Agriland FS, Winterset, Iowa, July 16, 2008. This presentation for FS managers and staff regarded managing interpersonal differences by improving interpersonal relations and the challenges of gender & age differences.

Lisa and Nathan Miczo presented at the Eastern Communication Association's 100th annual conference in Philadelphia, PA (April 22-26th, 2009).

Nathan's paper was "Computer-Mediated Communication and the Maintenance of Geographically Close Friendships". Nathan was first author, Theresa Mariani was 2nd, and Crystal Donahue was third author. The 2nd and 3rd authors are past WIU graduate and undergraduate students (who have since graduated) respectively.

Lisa presented "Are Birds of a Feather More Satisfied Together?: A Test of the Skill Similarity Model", which was solo-authored. This paper came out of the research I conducted for a Wayne N. Thompson Professorship, awarded through the Department of Communication.

Ming-Yi Wu has published an article in "China Media Research" and she has been elected to be an editor of Newsletter for Association for Chinese Communication Studies, National Communication Association.
