Quad Cities Minor

The Department of Communication offers a communication minor at the WIU-QC campus. A minor in communication helps bring the pieces together for all other areas of study. Understanding strategies of communication is one of the greatest assets you can have in whatever career you choose. The communication minor prepares you for a variety of careers, such as sales, public relations, advertising, personnel, human resources, education, training, and management, to name a few.

You need to take a total of 18 semester hours (SH) that include the following:

COMM 130 – Introduction to Human Communication (3)
COMM 247 – Argumentation (3)

Three of the following four classes

COMM 312 – Rhetorical Theory & Criticism (3)
COMM 343 – Organizational Communication (3)
COMM 344 – Interpersonal Communication (3)
COMM 256 – Introduction to Persuasion (3)

And select one elective course from COMM 300/400 (3)
