President Declares
March Women's History Month At WIU
To recognize the historic, cultural, charitable
and societal contributions of women, President Donald Spencer
has declared March "Women's History Month." As part
of a month-long celebration, the Women's Center has compiled a
calendar of events recognizing women's achievements and contributions.
According to Women's Center Director Janine Cavicchia,
calendar items were solicited from academic and administrative
departments and student organizations.
"We have a full calendar of interesting
and diverse programs, and I invite and encourage students, faculty,
staff and community members to join us as we ‘Celebrate Women
of Courage and Vision,'" Cavicchia said.
The schedule follows:
Thursday, March 1-Saturday March 31-Women's
History Month bulletin board contest and displays in University
residence halls; Women's History Month display of books written
by and about women at the Union bookstore; Women's History Month
displays in the Union Showcase, at the University Library circulation
desk, and at the WIU Quad Cities Campus;
Thursday, March 8-International Women's
