Professional Accomplishments
- Vin Auger, political science,
led a group of 14 students to the Midwest Model United Nations
simulation held in St. Louis.
- Andrew J. Baker, agriculture,
was named second-runner-up for the "Outstanding Research
Paper and Presentation Award" at the Central Region American
Association for Agricultural Education Research Conference in
St. Louis. The research study was titled "Assessing and
Prioritizing Present Inservice Needs and Evaluating Past Inservice
Programming Designed for Illinois Agricultural Education Instructors."
Baker also presented "Assessing and Comparing the Scheduling
Systems Utilized by Agricultural Education Programs in Illinois"
at the conference. He took eight students to participate in
the Undergraduate Program conducted at the conference as well.
- Adam Chacksfield, political science,
presented "Beyond Benefit-Cost Analysis: Teaching Policy
Evaluation for the 21st Century" for a panel called Between
Policy and Economics at the 24th Annual Conference on Teaching
Public Administration at Arizona State University in Tempe.
He also participated in a panel called "It's Not Your Father's
Oldsmobile: Rethinking PA Programs for the New Millennium."
- David Connelly, political science,
presented "Teaching IT in PA Programs — What Does the Syllabus
Look Like?" for a panel on Distance Education at the 24th
Annual Conference on Teaching Public Administration at Arizona
State University in Tempe. He also participated in a panel called
"It's Not Your Father's Oldsmobile: Rethinking PA Programs
for the New Millennium."
- Keren Humphrey, counselor education/college
student personnel, was recently elected to a three-year term
on the Governing Council of the American Counseling Association
(ACA). Humphrey will represent the American College Counseling
Association.
- Linda Stickney-Taylor, Joyce E. Nielsen,
Gloria Barr and Pam Hines, School of Extended and
Continuing Education, presented "Establishing a Travel
and Study Abroad Program" at the Illinois Council on Continuing
Higher Education Annual Conference in Bloomington.
- Sharon Wrobel, political science,
presented "Reconsidering Comparative Public Adminstration:
Attracting and Serving Alumni of International Service Organizations"
at a panel on Integrating the International Student into American
Public Administration at the 24th Annual Conference on Teaching
Public Administration at Arizona State University in Tempe.
She also chaired a panel called "It's Not Your Father's
Oldsmobile: Rethinking PA Programs for the New Millennium."
