Illinois Governor George Ryan has announced the appointment of Theodore "Ted" Brunsvold, director of legislative and regulatory affairs for Greenberg Traurig, LLP Chicago office, to the WIU Board of Trustees.

A native of Milan, Brunsvold served as government affairs director of the Illinois Manufacturers' Association (1998-2000). He also served as communications coordinator and research/appropriations analyst for the Illinois House of Representatives, office of Speaker Michael J. Madigan (1996-1998) and on the Illinois House Democratic Majority Committee (1994-1996). He is a graduate of the University of Illinois Springfield and is currently attending John Marshall Law School.

"We are delighted that an individual with a clear understanding of the governmental process in Illinois has been selected to provide valuable leadership in public higher education," said President Donald S. Spencer. Brunsvold was named to serve the remainder of the term vacated by C. Robert Leininger, who resigned. The appointment must be confirmed by the Illinois Senate.
