Climb and
Conquer At Horn Field Campus
WIU's Horn Field Campus will host the first
"Climb and Conquer" competition from 2-6 p.m. Friday,
April 26 at Horn's climbing and rappelling tower, a 40-foot
vertical wood structure, complete with rock-like handholds. Persons
ages 13 and up are invited to participate in the inaugural climbing
challenge. Entry fee is $5 a person. First place awards will be
given to the fastest male and female climbers at the "easy,"
"challenging" and "daring" levels. The band
Go Ask Brian will provide musical entertainment beginning at
2 p.m., while Modern Rock 95.9 will broadcast live from the
event.
WIU Campus Recreation will provide a shuttle
from the Student Recreation Center to Horn Field at 2 p.m.,
returning to campus at 6 p.m. Parking is also available
at Horn Field Campus. The competition will begin at 2:30 p.m.,
and an awards ceremony will be held following the final climb.
Campus Recreation will also provide shuttle
service to Horn from 2-5 p.m. Friday, April 19 for those
who want to practice shimmying up a 40-foot climbing wall before
the actual competition. The rain date for "Climb and Conquer"
