National Employee Health and Fitness Day

As a part of National Employee Health and Fitness Day Wednesday, May 15 Campus Recreation invites all faculty, staff, and administrators to attend the Health Fair from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and to use the Student Recreation Center free of charge from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Employees are encouraged to head to the center for healthy treats (provided by the University of Illinois Extension), door prizes/giveaways and to pick up information and freebees on healthy lifestyles between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Representatives from the Benefits Office and Illinois Employee Assistance Program will be available, too.

Free glucose screenings and massages, blood pressures and body compositions will be offered. Information will be available on recreational opportunities in the area, golf, yoga, biking and car seat safety. There will be handouts on nutrition, osteoporosis, sun safety, men's health, work-place stress, cancer, alcohol screening, smoking cessation, organ donation, terrorism and weight control. There will be a defibrillator demonstration and an opportunity to try the Fatal Vision Goggles.

Student services has donated prizes from the bookstore. Other prizes include a Lifestep Certificate (health screening), passes for Glenwood Pool and Ball Fore, certificates for yoga classes and prizes from The Bike Shop and Harry Mussatto Golf Course.

Campus Connection is produced by the Office of University Relations at Western Illinois University. It is distributed each Friday when the University is in session and approximately four times during the summer.
