Barbara Baily Named Western Illinois University
Associate Provost
Barbara Baily, has been named associate provost at Western, effective
immediately. She has served as interim associate provost since
2001 and will continue her duties as director of graduate studies.
“I am so pleased that Dr. Baily
has agreed to remain in the Provost’s Office. Her
energy, expertise and dedication have been instrumental in shaping
the academic policies of Western over the past several years,”
said Provost Joseph Rallo.
“Although Dr. Baily will still lead
our graduate program, she will also assume additional responsibilities
in the critical areas of assessment, accreditation and program
development,” Rallo added. “I look forward to her
guidance and counsel as we initiate several new and exciting
academic initiatives for the University in the coming months.”
She has been director of graduate studies
at Western since 1993. She previously served as assistant to
the dean of graduate studies and assistant to the dean of graduate
and international studies. Prior to coming to Western in 1986
Baily served as placement director and assistant program director/faculty
at Robert Morris College, Carthage.
Baily received her Ph.D. in educational
administration from Southern Illinois University in 1996. She
earned her education specialist, master’s and bachelor’s
degrees at Western. She has served as president for the National
Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals and is a member
of the Council of Graduate Schools, the Midwest Association
of Graduate Schools, the Illinois Consortium for Educational
Opportunity Board of Directors, the Quad Cities Graduate Studies
Board of Directors and Phi Delta Kappa professional education
fraternity.
