Employee Wellness Survey

Faculty and staff in Macomb soon will be asked to complete an online survey on employee wellness as part of an ongoing program within the vice president for administrative services division.

The survey is part of an Affirmative Action Internship project by
Elwanda Scott, who is developing an Employee Wellness program to enhance Western’s staff development efforts. The program will combine education and training to give Western Illinois faculty and staff an opportunity to improve their overall health and fitness level, according to Scott.

“The survey will be sent during the third week in October to all employees to determine their interest in a wellness program on our Macomb campus,” Scott said. “Our intent is to schedule a test program for a limited number of employees during Spring 2005.
“The survey will also be used as a guide to schedule some health and fitness enhancement workshops - - such as nutrition, exercise myths, power walking and fad diets - - to the ‘Take This Job and Love It’ series next March,” she added.

The staff development program will be supported by
Cathy McMillen, assistant kinesiology professor, who was involved with two previous programs at Western, the Adult Fitness Program and Fit for Life.

Scott, who is serving a yearlong Affirmative Action Internship, works mornings in the financial aid student employment division and afternoons in
Vice President Jackie Thompson’s office.
