Western’s International Friendship Club will host the
club’s International Bazaar kick-off party from
5-6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25
in the University Union Capitol Rooms.
The campus and Macomb communities
are encouraged to submit ideas for the 32nd Annual International
Bazaar Theme. In previous years themes have included “Crossing
Nations One Hand at a Time,” “One World, One
Future,” “United We Stand, Together We Can”
and “Celebrating a Century of International Friendship.”
Suggestions will be accepted until Wednesday, Oct. 20. The
theme of the Bazaar will be unveiled at the kick-off party.
Guest speakers at the event include philosophy and religious
studies professor and winner of Western’s Distinguished
Lecturer award Paul
Mundschenk, Provost Joseph Rallo, Vice
President for Student Services Garry Johnson, Interim
Assistant Director of International Activities for the
Center for International Studies Kevin Moon and
IFC President Arturo Pelayo.
A videotaped message from President
Al Goldfarb will also be shown, as well as a documentary of international
student life at Western and in the Macomb community will
be shown. Refreshments and snacks will be served.
All Western students, faculty and staff are invited to attend
along with community members interested in volunteering
for the International Bazaar planning efforts. Members
of the Macomb business community who are interested in
co-sponsoring this event are also invited to attend. A
sign-up sheet for sponsors and community volunteers will
be available at kick-off party and on the group’s
website. Reservations are not needed but seating will be provided in
a first-come first-served basis.
