Document And Publication Services Department Established
At Western
Vice President for Administrative
Services Jackie Thompson has announced
the formation of a new service department, Document and Publication
Services (DPS).
Reporting to the Vice President
for Administrative Services, DPS serves as a single, integrated unit,
incorporating the Curriculum Publications Clearinghouse (CPC), Union
Copy Center/Print Services, Stipes Copy Center/Print Services, Mailing
Services and Word Processing operations. As of Feb. 1, these units
no longer exist as separate entities, and the services provided by
these units, as well as several services provided by University Publications
within the Office of University Relations, are now provided through
DPS.
Staff from DPS and University
Relations are working together to meet the needs of University
areas by providing high-quality, cost-effective use of campus resources
and by ensuring materials produced reflect Western’s established
visual identity and values, according to Thompson and Assistant
Vice President for University Relations John C. Maguire.
The consolidated DPS department
began operations Feb. 1, under the direction of Phyllis
Plank. The mission of DPS is to streamline the publishing, printing
and duplication process for the campus community by providing publication
services from concept to delivery-including design, layout, editing,
printing, production and distribution.
“The staff in University
Publications within the Office of University Relations will continue
to produce the high-quality materials in support of marketing, advancement,
student recruitment, orientation and retention,” Maguire
said.
Additional information detailing
procedures and specific services as they relate to DPS will be distributed
campuswide prior to July 1. Questions regarding specific projects
can be directed to Pam Mainland at DPS in Horrabin
Hall 46, telephone 298-1917, PS-Mainland@wiu.edu; or Tim Engel in the Office of University
Relations, Sherman Hall 302, telephone 298-1993, TE-Engel@wiu.edu.
