Welcome Back from the President
While the start of the school year is always meaningful,
the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year is even more personally
meaningful as this marks my final year at Western Illinois
University. As in years past, it is my pleasure to welcome
new and returning students, faculty and staff to Western
for the new school year. As Elaine and I begin our ninth
and final year at Western, I want to express our sincere
appreciation to the campus community for its continued support

Al Harris Named Admissions Director
Al Harris, associate vice president for
student services at Western Illinois University, has agreed
to serve as the associate vice president and undergraduate
admissions director at WIU, effective Sept. 1, according
to Vice President for Student Services Garry Johnson. Click

Ann Comerford Named University Union Director
Ann Comerford, director of Western Illinois
University's Office of Student Activities, has been named
the University Union Director, effective Sept. 1, according
to Vice President for Student Services Garry Johnson.

Cash Flow Update
In recent weeks, the University has been reimbursed $10
million from the state of Illinois for FY'10 expenditures;
however, we are awaiting reimbursement for the remaining
$6 million of the FY'10 appropriated budget. We are very
appreciative of the state's efforts to finalize FY'10 appropriated
reimbursements.Click

Civil Service Awards Renamed to Reflect Goldfarb's Generosity
Western Illinois University President Al Goldfarb and
his wife, Elaine, have established an endowment
to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee
of the Month and Employee of the Year awards. The awards
have been renamed the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil
Service Employee of the Month Award and the Al
and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Year Award to
reflect the Goldfarb's generosity and commitment to Western.Click
