Frank Main, former chair of the division of counseling and psychology in education at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, was named chair of Western Illinois University's counselor education department, effective July , 2007. Dr. Main is the author of the popular book on families, "Perfect Parenting and Other Myths" and has a sequel for couples in progress; He has published extensively in journals and has contributed to several edited books. While at The University of South Dakota he was the founder and director and of the Counseling and Family Therapy Center. Frank received the 2006 North American Society of Adlerian Psychology Lifetime Achievement Award and is a clinical member and Approved Supervisor for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). He is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT). Dr. Main consults nationally and internationally, demonstrating his hope-focused approach to marital and family therapy
