FALL 2009 CLINICAL/STUDENT TEACHING CHECKLIST
This checklist serves as a reminder that all clinical/student teaching clearance requirements must be satisfied by the dates indicated in order to student teach fall semester 2009. Be reminded that:
- Any course work to be transferred to WIU to satisfy graduation requirements must be recorded on the WIU transcript by August 1, 2009.
- Any summer 2009 course work required to satisfy program/degree requirements must be completed at WIU, Macomb or QC campus.
- All WIU course work (including independent study) must be completed and a final grade recorded on your WIU transcript by August 1, 2009.
- An "Incomplete" in any course work (including independent study) is a deficiency. Any grade changes must be recorded on the WIU transcript by August 1, 2009.
- You must verify passing results of the applicable content-area test(s) [including the TLP-Spanish for Bilingual majors] in the Center for the Preparation of Education Professionals (Horrabin Hall 91, WIU, Macomb, IL 61455) by July 15, 2009. The latest possible date for taking the required test(s) will be June 6, 2009. It is recommended you not wait this late!
- You must maintain the required cumulative and major GPAs for your major. If student teaching in the minor area, you must maintain the minimum GPA required for the minor. Student teaching at the middle level requires satisfactory completion of C&I 403 with a minimum grade of “C” prior to the student teaching term.
- You must provide official verification of a TB skin test taken the semester prior to student teaching. We request that you wait until early April to have this test as some school districts may require verification that this test was completed within 90 days of your start date. This test may be completed through Beu Health Center, a private physician, or county health department. Official results must be submitted to the Center for the Preparation of Education Professionals by May 1, 2009.
- You must provide official verification of an Illinois State Police/FBI fingerprint background investigation completed the semester prior to student teaching (to be completed after March 1). Results must be approved and on file in the Center for the Preparation of Education Professionals by May 1, 2009.
- You must be registered for STCH coursework by August 1, 2009. You may not begin your student teaching assignment unless you are officially registered with the University.
Remember: You must successfully pass the applicable APT test in order to receive a satisfactory grade for student teaching. The University Teacher Education Committee recommends that this exam be completed the semester prior to student teaching.
Students who do not satisfy all clearance requirements as noted herein will be canceled from student teaching.
Please contact your teacher education advisor immediately if you have any questions or concerns about this notice.
