Degrees at a Distance Program for Firefighters

The Degrees at a Distance Program allows firefighters in participating states or regions to earn a degree, or pursue professional development opportunities. The program provides access to higher education for all fire service personnel and allows them to earn a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university without losing time on the job.

Western Illinois University is one of seven institutions participating in the Degrees at a Distance Program (DDP), a higher education project of the National Fire Academy (NFA).
