Conferences and Workshops

Conferences and workshops, serving diverse professional development needs, are offered by Non-Credit Programs on the WIU campus and in area cities.

Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs) for teachers and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for licensure or certification for a variety of professions are offered in conjunction with many programs.

School Safety: Active Shooter Threats to Schools and Their Communities

This program is designed for both educators and law enforcement officials.  The program provides background information as well as current information on active shooter threats.  Participants will learn about red flag behaviors, past and current policy, law enforcement protocols, and liability. Presenters of the conference are members of the School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration at Western Illinois University, a signature program at WIU.

The $95 program fee includes an evening reception for conference attendees, lunch, conference materials, attendance, and applicable continuing education units.  Conference attendees are eligible to receive WIU Continuing Education Units (CEUs), Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs), and social worker contact hours as part of their registration fee.
