Prospective Students

The Distance Learning Office at Western Illinois University is part of the School of Extended Studies and facilitates the offerings of extension, online, and correspondence courses.

The Distance Learning Office provides exam proctoring services for online and correspondence courses, serving students located in the Macomb and Quad Cities areas while assisting students in locating acceptable testing proctors at other locations.

The Distance Learning Office also provides coordination for faculty traveling to remote locations for regularly scheduled courses. This office also assists in the development of online courses and helps ensure high standards are adhered to.

WIU currently offers two degrees that are available fully online:

Board of Trustees/Bachelor of Arts (BOT/BA)

Western Illinois University offers a unique Bachelor of Arts degree program designed to provide adult students with an opportunity to earn a regionally accredited undergraduate degree in a manner compatible with their educational needs and lifestyles. This highly individualized and flexible program recognizes that adults may have attended a variety of educational institutions and accepts transfer of passing course work taken at other regionally accredited colleges and universities. This program can also be completed fully online.

Instructional Design and Technology/Master's Degree

The Master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology helps students learn to apply technology in a variety of different instructional settings. While the courses focus on the uses of technology, it should be noted that the program is designed to assist people in using a variety of different technologies in the educational setting- with the intention being to provide a more meaningful experiences for those involved in the learning and training process.
