Steve Rock has published a great deal in the area of public finance and public policy, particularly with respect to transportation issues. An example is his extensive research on the effectiveness of seat belt laws on traffic safety. A popular teacher, Steve particularly emphasizes in his undergraduate teaching the clear understanding of economic methods in public and business decisionmaking. In the service area, he has acted as the Department of Economics library representative and has served two terms on the Faculty Senate. Currently he is in his secont stint on the Council on Admissions, Graduation, and Academic Standards (CAGAS).
