Complentary Majors and Minors

One of the things that you learn in a basic economics course is that some goods and services complement one another. That is, they tend to be used together because the attributes of one good combine with the attributes of another good to produce a joint good that is more desirable than either good alone.

What follows is a list of majors which can be combined with a second major, or a minor, in economics to produce a stronger and more flexible undergraduate education.

An asterisk (*) indicates that a minor may be taken in this area but not a major. All others can be taken as either majors or minors.

We have recognized the close connections between many other disciplines and economics and have developed a set of advisory "tracks" which provide guidance regarding the courses in economics that provide the best preparation for a particular career area.

Learn more about the advisory "track system" in the Economics Department. By working with your adviser, faculty mentor, or the chair of the department of economics, a "track" uniquely suited to your goals and objectives can be developed.
