About EC-TIIS
This site provides online workshops which focus on the use of technology as a tool to assist young children with disabilities in achieving developmental goals. The Early Childhood Technology Integrated Educational System, or EC-TIIS, (pronounced eee-see-ties) is a service for families and early childhood professionals sponsored by the Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education at Western Illinois University. There is no charge for use of this site.

About The Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education
The Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education at Western Illinois University was established in August of 1999. It replaced "Macomb Projects", which began in 1975 when Dr. Patricia Hutinger, Professor of Early Childhood in the Elementary Education/Reading Department at Western Illinois University received her first federally-funded project from the Office for Special Education Programs. The Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood is directed by Dr. Hutinger and continues the work of Macomb Projects by providing products, training materials, conferences, and workshops on topics relating to technology, early childhood, children with disabilities, and more. Current projects are funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the Illinois State Board of Education, and Illinois Department of Human Services.
How to Use This Site
You must register, then log in, to be able to view the workshops. This general content, open to unregistered users, can be navigated using the Site Map. The site map has a listing of the major site divisions and explanations. You can also or you can view the sample workshop page, which includes descriptions of each of the workshops.
