Art Center
The classroom art center is designed for activities, such as drawing, painting, and construction of props for dramatic play.
- The art center includes a variety of tools, materials, and surfaces for drawing and painting.
- Adaptive art tools are available for children who need them.
- Literacy skills are encouraged through children's artwork and their description of their work. Some children will include writing with their art creations.

Tech Center
The technology center includes a computer system with a color monitor, speakers, and microphone, adaptive input devices, developmentally appropriate software, and related off-computer materials.
- The computer and monitor are placed on an adjustable table at a suitable eye level for the children.
- At least two child-sized chairs are kept at the table at all times, with room for more chairs to be added as needed.
- The computer table should be able to be adjusted to meet the needs of a child in a wheelchair.
The computer environment is kept as simple as possible with just the essential pieces of equipment within the children's reach. The simpler the environment, the easier it is for the children to focus on the software.
- If the keyboard is not being used, it is kept out of children's view so that it is not distracting to them.
- Supporting materials, such as hard copies of a book that is presented on the screen, are readily accessible for use in the computer center. Children may enjoy looking at the book as they interact with the same story in the software.
