  • Responsibilities:
    1. Installs, configures, repairs, and disassembles hardware devices.
    2. Performs the most difficult repairs or rebuilds/overhauls devices and their components.
    3. Performs or supervises preventative maintenance and diagnostics of hardware devices.
    4. Performs or supervises functional testing of devices.
    5. Trains or supervises technology staff in maintenance topics related to hardware devices and software support.
    6. Responds independently to or directs staff in the resolution of user calls/questions regarding hardware devices and software.
    7. Provides information about estimated repair costs to users and maintains basic statistics on repaired equipment.
    8. Keeps accurate and timely record of activities performed in designated department application.
    9. Creates and maintains comprehensive and accurate documentation of all operational and end-user procedures and information in the department's centralized technician- and/or customer-facing knowledge management systems.
    10. Demonstrates proper use of devices such as desktops, laptops, printers, copiers, document cameras, scanners for users.
    11. Employees in this series are involved or direct staff in software installation, repair and support.
    12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

     

  • Required Qualifications:
    • High School graduation or equivalent
    • Any combination totaling three (3) years from the following categories:
      1. Progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession including:
        1. advanced hardware and software repair and support experience
        2. experience performing duties listed under level II of this series
      2. College course work which included a minimum of 12 semester hours in Information Technology (IT), or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
        1. 60 semester hours or Associate’s Degree equals one year
