Graduate program
The Department of English & Journalism offers the Master of Arts in English and a graduate certificate in English. Our programs are ideal for students pursuing careers in secondary or community college teaching, satisfying continuing education requirements, or preparing for further graduate study.
Students in the Graduate Program in English collaborate with our faculty to develop individualized plans of study which suit their professional goals. We actively help students with financial support and professional development. Recent graduates have earned tenure-track jobs at Illinois and Iowa community colleges, as well as assistantships at top graduate programs like the University of Notre Dame, the University of Minnesota, and Saint Louis University.
