May 9, 2009, 5:00pm, Magnolia’s Restaurant, Downtown Macomb
Please note the location change to Magnolia’s Restaurant.
On a cold Thursday evening, December 4th, 2008, over 100 people packed into the Alumni House after a candlelit memorial walk around Lake Ruth to remember Dameris A. Bagwell, a WIU journalism student who passed away in December 2008.
We invite you join us in supporting what the Bagwell family, Rev. Darrell and Beverly Bagwell, and Dameris's brother D. J. Bagwell, call "Dameris's legacy:" the NABJ-WIU Travel Fund, which will enable student travel and professional activity through the auspices of the WIU chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ-WIU).
The winner of the inaugural Dameris Bagwell Scholarship will also be announced at this event.
With the support and encouragement of the Bagwell family, we are honored to remember Dameris by supporting the professional development and education of her fellow journalism students. Please celebrate her life with us.
Jerk Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese, Beans and Rice, Tossed Salad, Dessert, Coffee, Tea, Lemonade.
