JONAH JONES: Born Washington, County Durham, 1919

Jonah is the leading calligrapher in Wales. A former Director of the National College of Art and Design in Ireland, his commissions include the memorial stone for Dylan Thomas in Westminster Abbey. The author of two novels and an autobiography, he has made an outstanding contribution to the life of art and letters in Wales. Jonah is still very active in his studio in the Model House on Llantrisant and has just been featured in a television documentary about his life and work.
