DANNIE ABSE: Born Cardiff, 1923

Dannie Abse's Selected Poems appeared recently from Penguin. The best-known of Welsh poets, he has now retired from medical practice and broadcasts and reads his works widely in Europe and North America. His novels include Ash on a Young Man's Sleeve and There was a Young Man from Cardiff. He received an Hon. D. Litt. from the University of Wales in 1993.
