Joseph Swain Named Fryzek Award Winner
Joseph Swain was named the 2002-2003 recipient of the Rob Fryzek Outstanding Graduate Student Award. The award recognizes excellence in leadership within the Department of Geography, University and Community. Joseph received a cash award and his name has been placed on a plaque that is displayed in the Geography Department. 
Joseph is 2000 graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He has been an active member of the Gamma Theta Upsilon honor society and the Student Society of Geography. He also has served for the past two years as a teaching assistant in the department's introductory Physical Geography labs. His thesis research deals with the of geography immigrant enclaves in the western United States. Joseph will be attending the University of Oklahoma starting this fall, where he has been accepted into the Ph.D. program in the Department of Geography.
