Dr. Christopher Sutton, Associate Professor and Department Chair, was one of six recipients of the 2005-2006 Provost's Award for Academic Excellence. Dr. Sutton received the Excellence in Teaching With Technology Award at a reception at a ceremony on October 10.
Dr. Sutton was one of the first faculty members in the Department of Geography to extensively incorporate emerging technologies into all of the courses he teaches. He is noteworthy not only for bringing such technologies into both classroom and laboratory environments, but also his development of synchronous and asynchronous applications of internet technology to supplement his courses. Dr. Sutton has become not only one of the leading internet practitioners of the effective application of emerging technologies in the classroom, but also one of the key campus resources for pedagogical applications of web technologies.
