Darrel Barker Named Fryzek Award Winner
Darrel Barker was named the 2004-2005 recipient of the Rob Fryzek Outstanding Graduate Student Award. The award recognizes excellence in leadership within the Department of Geography, University and Community. Darrel received a cash award and his name has been placed on a plaque that is displayed in the Geography Department.
A 1996 graduate of the University of Iowa, Darrel has served as a graduate assistant in the department's physical geography laboratories and in the McDonough County GIS Center.
His thesis research dealt with public knowledge and perception of wetlands and wetlands mitigation policy in four Illinois counties.
