Chad Sperry, Faculty Associate in Department of Geography and Manager of the McDonough County GIS Center, recently was awarded funding for three projects.
- $32,210 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the project IENC Feature Class Generation. The purpose of the project is to generate four GIS feature classes (dams, lock chambers, lock gates, and lock guide walls) for navigation features on the Upper Mississippi River and Illinois Waterway within the boundaries of the Rock Island District.
- $935 for the project GPS Data Collection for Benon and Associates. This project will involve use of Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment to collect topography data on streets throughout the study area. This data will be used to create a terrain model to analyze localized flooding problems within the City of Macomb.
- $2,822 for the project GIS Assistance for McDonough County Assessor's Office. This project will perform an in-depth quality control review of the existing farm, pasture, waste, and residential land use GIS layers in the county. The GIS Center will generate a report summarizing acreage calculations for each farm parcel in McDonough County.
